Olivia Johnson of Point Reyes Station's Fat + Fallow will lead a workshop in the art and craft of making scented tallow candles. After discovering that a local organic butcher shop was discarding their tallow, Olivia decided to experiment with creating her own balms and creams with the rich, natural fat. Tallow possesses similar qualities to sebum, the oily substance secreted by our own sebaceous glands, and has been shown to be beneficial for skin care, as well as useful in everything from soaps to candles. During this workshop, you'll learn about the amazing uses and benefits of tallow and immerse yourself in a hands-on candle-making experience.
All materials will be provided, and participants will go home with their own hand-crafted tallow candle. A light lunch will be provided.
Participants should bring an apron and/or wear clothes they're not afraid to get messy.
Or Call 844-326-3260 for tickets.
Workshop Duration: 3 hours + 30 minute lunch
Available Spots: 20
